Stucco Crack Repair in Central Florida
Stucco crack repair seals the cracks in an exterior stucco wall, corrects what is causing them where possible, and rebuilds the texture so the patch blends into the surrounding finish rather than showing. On Central Florida's concrete-block homes, cracking is the most common stucco problem we see, and Anicette Stucco has repaired it across Lake County for more than 15 years. We are insured and every estimate is free.

What stucco crack repair is
A proper crack repair does more than smear filler over a line. We open the crack enough to clean it back to sound stucco, seal it with a material that flexes and bonds in Florida's heat and humidity, and then rebuild the surface texture so the repaired strip matches the wall around it. Skipping the texture step is why so many patched cracks stay visible; skipping the cause is why they come back.
Hairline cracks vs. structural cracks
Not all cracks mean the same thing, and the difference decides the repair.
Hairline cracks are thin, shallow cracks in the finish coat, often from normal curing, seasonal movement, or minor settling. They are usually cosmetic, but they still let moisture creep in over time, so sealing them protects the wall.
Structural cracks are wider, may run diagonally from window and door corners or follow the block joints, and can keep opening. These often point to movement or moisture behind the wall, and they need the cause addressed, not just the crack filled. When we look at the wall, we tell you which type you have and why it matters.
Where a stucco contractor stops and an engineer starts
This is the part of the trade most worth being straight about, because the word "structural" is used loosely.
Most cracks that get called structural are cracks in the stucco caused by ordinary movement in the wall behind it - settlement, thermal expansion, a failed joint. Those are stucco work, and they are what this page is about. We open them, address what is opening them where we can, seal them properly and rebuild the texture.
But a crack can also be the building telling you something a stucco contractor is not qualified to answer. If a crack is wide and still moving, if it steps through the block courses, if it is mirrored inside the house, or if doors and windows have stopped closing properly, the question is no longer about the finish. That is a structural engineer's call, and it has to be made before anyone puts material into the crack, because a patch over live movement is money spent on something that will reopen. If we see those signs we will tell you to get an engineer, and we would rather lose the job than take it.
Once an engineer has cleared the cause or specified the remedy, repairing the stucco is our work again, and we are happy to do it.
Why stucco cracks in Central Florida
Stucco cracks here for reasons tied to how local homes are built and what the climate does to them. Most homes are concrete block with a stucco coat, and that assembly expands and contracts as temperatures swing between hot, humid days and cooler nights. Summer storms drive rain against the walls and settling moves the block slightly, and over the years those forces open small cracks. Freeze-thaw, the mechanism that widens cracks in colder states, is not the issue here. What widens them in Florida is water soaking into the substrate and the constant expansion and contraction that follows. Because the cause is local, the fix has to account for it, which is why a repair built for these walls tends to outlast a generic patch.

When a crack means water damage
Some cracks are an early warning. If you see staining around a crack, soft or bubbling stucco, or paint peeling nearby, water may already be behind the finish. In that case, sealing the surface alone traps the moisture. We check for this at the estimate, and when we find it we move the job toward stucco water damage repair, which corrects the source and rebuilds the moisture barrier.
Do-it-yourself patching vs. professional repair
A tube of caulk can hide a hairline crack for a season, but it rarely lasts and it never matches the texture. The harder part is reading the crack correctly: a homeowner patch over a structural or moisture-driven crack covers the symptom while the cause keeps working. A professional repair matches the finish, uses materials suited to the wall, and treats the reason the crack formed, which is why it tends to hold.
What crack repair costs
Crack repair is one of the more affordable stucco jobs, priced by the length and severity of the cracking and how easy the wall is to reach. For typical Central Florida ranges and what moves them, see our stucco repair cost page. Your exact price comes from a free on-site estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Something not covered here? Call (407) 456-2006 and ask.
Yes. They are usually cosmetic, but sealing them closes the route water would otherwise take into the wall, which is the cheap end of this trade to be at.
Done properly, the texture-matched patch blends into the surrounding stucco. On heavily weathered or previously patched walls a repaint may be needed for a fully uniform look.
Not always. Many are normal movement or curing cracks. Widening cracks, diagonal cracks from corners, or cracks with staining deserve a closer look, which we do for free.
We replicate the existing finish by hand and tool so the repaired area matches the pattern around it.
Yes. Call and we will scope the work at no charge.
Crack repair is one of the shorter jobs in this trade, though a wall that needs curing time before the finish is rebuilt takes longer. We will give you a realistic timeline at the estimate rather than an optimistic one.

A dry, stable hairline crack can wait if it needs to. One that is widening, or taking on water, will not, and it gets more expensive the longer it does.
